In an excellent post at ACG, Redwolf illustrates the vehicle path finding problem in CMSF v1.02. He orders a Bradley down a road. The blood alcohol content of the Tac AI appears to be well above the legal limit. Check it out here:

Looked to me like the vehicle followed hi route exactly, now if you give a route that is going to have turns and directions that will turn your back to face the enemy....how is a computer to compensate for that. Plus were the vehicle pathings perfect in CC/CM? NOT
Plus notice the color of the path? Thats a fast command.
Its been stated (Im pretty sure in the manual) slow down for turns
AFVs arent race cars and anything over a 45degree turn is almost always going to
end up as a overshooting of the turn. Pretty flawed test with Incomplete stating of relevant facts

At least it ended up were it was plotted to. I don't see how it's supposed to not rear face the enemy when it has plotted turns that forced it to. Except for making its own short cut it arrived as plotted.

It it were CM1 it would have been fine, but if CMSF was supposed to improve on waypoint following & following the road then it's not so good.

I've read about worse following movement orders.
