Gamespot gives CMSF a rating of 4.5 and "Poor". They are very critical of many aspects of the game, especially the AI. Their conclusion:

"CM: Shock Force is a tremendous disappointment. There is still a great deal of promise here, Battlefront has already started whipping the game into shape through what will no doubt be a long succession of patches, and the diehard fan base will undoubtedly use the included editor to make some impressive battles. Even so, no game should be released in such a rough, incomplete state."

and here are 8, 9.5 and a 7.3 out of 10 reviews
Gamespot wouldnt normally Influence Grogs, Isnt it more of
a console site? Its definately not a wargamer site.
These below were linked from the above review.
Download the demo and learn how to play it against a human.
The demo will let you do this.
Its going to be a reach for anyone who is used to taking 30 minutes
to plan for a minutes action. But remember how much of a reach
WEGO was for the CC crowd amongst us?

But the Gamespot review may be the one that will be most read (of those released to date) by those outside the "pure" wargaming community.

P.S. Coming from turn based computer war games and board games, WEGO was heaven for me from the getgo.

We-Go was revolutionary and is still a part of CMSF , just not for IP games.
Plus another downside is that the PBEM files are huge .....on the scale of 14 meg. If We-Go or No-Go is a must for CMX2 I think we are problably out of luck and need to start looking elsewhere for the next CMBB.
But if we are willing to go back to the smaller scale CC type of action this game looks like it will be a winner.Smaller than CMBB but still bigger than CC.
This game so far shows me the potential for real time games that
fall somewhere between CC and CM range but are still manageable.
If some say that CMSF is basically a clickfest, I would say then they dont know how to play very well are out of control and definately losing.
Most likely from overextending.
This game flawed though it is has tremendous potential.
Anyone who has been with CM since CMBO knows that it was flawed at the beginning. SuperHuman Infantry in CMBO stands out for me.
I know some totally dislike the "Syrian Scenario" but the Red forces could be any middle eastern and some soviet satelites with very little Imagination.
The game is not "Killer Tank" heavy for the Americans.
I think BattleFront will throw everything they have behind working the bugs out of this one.
I like it so far. Bugs, flaws and all.

I wholeheartedly agree with Steve on this one. The more I play it the more I like it.

We can't even get people to come on ts. What makes you think we can get more than you and AGC to get on to play CM:SuckFest in real time?
