I just picked up this RTS set in the Warhammer 40k universe. For $30 you get the 2004 RTS game of the year and the follow up expansion. It's a sweet looking game. I'm new to RTS so I suck.

The intro cgi movie is the best movie I've seen at the intro of the game. It's the 2nd or 3rd one down on this link. Unfortunately, it will play in full screen version only in low res format unless you subscribe -- the high res is a thing of beaty:

Played the tutorial and the first campaign mission. I really like it. Pretty easy to big up and get into. Very nice graphics, and the fun factor is high. My mighty Space Marines overran an Ork outpost in the first mission. Now my Scout Snipers need to infiltrate a captured Ork facility in the second.

It is fun. There's a free demo out there that will give you a good taste of the game. It's tough, but, of course, I'm a total newb at RTS. I also spend too much time zooming in on my force commander as he wails on Space Orks with his power sword.

I'm about halfway through the third mission -- recapture a space port overrun by bad guys. Some heavy weapons just became available, namely the might dreadnaughts, - think walking tanks. The AI is definitely a challenge, plus my RTS newbness always shows through. I'm finally beginning to use cover and defensive stuff properly.
