I found this while surfing one of my Shooter sites, So I downloaded the demo and have played a few missions. The game play is in 3rd person but when you choose the sniper rifle you switch to 1st person. The game is brilliantly done, you need to use a lot of discretion when it comes to taking out people...make too much noise and the jig is up and all hell breaks loose or the mission ends. The gimmick with this game is that when you shoot your K98 with scope and it's going to be a kill shot, you see the cinematic of the traveling bullet in all it's gory beauty. I have been prone and had a 1 shot two kills at 110 meters ( I waited till just the right moment when a guard/soldier walked right in front of another manning an MG. Right then I was hooked. It was released last October and I will now look for it in the Bargain bins because I will buy it without a doubt.

You can find the demo everywhere on the net from Gamespy to Gamespot etc...

I recommend this game highly! I guarantee if you play the demo you WILL buy the game so beware.

I just copied the following from the games inpromptu website:

Anyone who has taken out a target from 500 yards out in a 20 mile-per-hour crosswind knows that the simple point-and-shoot mechanic in today's shooters doesn't do the discipline justice. Namco's Sniper Elite attempts to give gamers an idea of what it's really like behind the scope.

The game was developed by UK studio Rebellion, and it will be released for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. Rebellion has experience in a variety of shooters, including Alien Versus Predator, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, and Snood 2: On Vacation.

Sniper Elite takes place during World War II and follows an OSS (Office of Strategic Services, a precursor to the modern-day CIA) agent as he goes behind enemy lines in Germany. Armed with a sniper rifle, the player will attempt to thwart the development of atomic weapons by the Soviets.

Rather than just the "line it up and shoot it" gameplay found in most shooters, gamers in Sniper Elite will have to take note of several factors, including wind, heart rate, and gravitational pull. The game features 28 levels of dynamic mission-based single-player gameplay, as well as an online multiplayer mode that supports up to eight players.
