What...?! Those little buggers are the scourge of the Midwest. They breed faster than rabbits. This is what good times is all about! I'm not so sure about the whole HIGH-power rifle thing with scopes and all, but we did do a bunch of dogging with iron-sight .22LRs.

PD shooting is big in west Texas. I understand that they use .222s and other high velocity small caliber rifles with scopes. A number of hard core Texas hunters fill in between hunting season with a little PD sniping.

The problem with PDs is that cows and horses can break legs in their holes. That's why they're so hated in the Panhandle. I bet a lot of 'em are getting toasted (literally) this week in the fires! I worked with several guys from Borger for more than twenty years. They all hunted PDs with those super fast 22/250s or whatever they're called, used scopes, and loaded their own shells.

We dont have PD's in Pa., but we have the very damaging Ground Hog. They devestate farmers fields and hurt animals all the time with their underground mazes. I fine tuned my shooting skills as a teenager shooting GH's. There is nothing as gratifying to your sense of shooting skill as nailing a GH out at a long distance. The popular guns around here for shooting them are .22-250's, .26-06's & 7mm Mags. Lately .22 Hornets, .22 Swifts & .22 fireballs + .17 Remingtons are becomming popular as well due to they're cross functionality of being able to kill Coyotes, a very big problem nowadays in Pa.
FYI - Big GH's can be a little bigger than Beavers if you have never seen one before.
