I have mentioned this once before (I think), but the World War 2 memorial sponsors a Registry of Remembrances which is a permanent electronic database (accesible on the web and at the WW2 memorial) that preserves information regarding World War 2 veterans.

In connection with my volunteer work, I interview veterans and register them with the Registry. Basically, I write a short biography of the veteran and cross reference/verify what they tell me with independent research. I have registered 9 veterans thus far and I can show you some of my bios if you are interested.

If any of you have relatives who served in WW2 and would like them registered with the memorial, I would be happy to do that for you. Just give me their service information (units, key dates, significant events) and I'll do the rest. It's a great way to preserve information regarding a veteran for friends, family and even researchers.
