It dosent work!

I have talked to several KG people and have advised me to do certian things and nothing has worked!

Steam dosent care about people, which is why I did not want to get DOD in the first place!

Is there an alternative to Steam? or something!?!?!?!?!

Any suggestions??????????????????????????????????

Contact steam, ask them for a solution, and if it doesn't work, then request a refund.

Here is the direct link for the fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909444

While I am on the topic - the last series of STEAM updates has really caused my game play to suck! Currently I experience a 2 second delay when firing a weapon in DOD. I have re-installed the whole pakage (not fun and about 2 hours) and still the crap does not work !!

Is that the fix to my problem? If so how do I do it? I have XP Home?

To resolve this problem, restore the default permissions to the COM+ catalog. To do this, follow these steps:

1.In the %windir%/registration folder, make sure that the Everyone group has READ permissions.

2.In the %windir%/registration folder, make sure that the SYSTEM account has FULL CONTROL permissions.

3.In the %windir%/registration folder, make sure that the Administrators group has FULL CONTROL permissions.

4.In the advanced security properties of the .clb files in the %windir%/registration folder, make sure that the Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here option is selected.

5.Make sure that the Everyone group has one of the following permissions:•Traverse permissions (“List Folder Contents”) on all parent directories, including %systemdrive%, %windir%, and %windir%\registration•

The Bypass Traverse Checking permission By default, all the permissions and user rights that were described previously are enabled. For more information about why the Bypass Traverse Checking permission should remain selected for the Everyone group, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 823659 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659/) (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659/) Client, service, and program incompatibilities that may occur when you modify security settings and user rights assignments

No! It! Does! Not!

Just a bit of advice..... stop putting so many exclamation points. Try this little bugger out, its called a "period", you put them at the end of a sentence or statement.

That is a good question -I think they want you to go to the registration folder (do a search) should be c:\windows\reistration

Yu will have t make sure hidden filesareshown and make sure the secuirty TAB is shown by doingthe fllowing:

To show the Security tab, open Windows Explorer, and choose Folder Options from the Tools menu. On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings and clear (click) the check box next to "Use Simple File Sharing." Click OK to apply the change, and you should now have a Security tab when viewing the properties of a file or folder.
