Man this is a tough one. i have owned 2 Springfields, 2 Lee-Enfields, 1 Mosin Nagant & more Mausers than i can count. i have shot an Arisaka {my old man brought one home from WW2} and the MAS. never shot the Carcano. they are all great weapons & very accurate. The Springfield is basicly a carbon copy of the Mauser rechambered to .30-06. i love the Mauser for obvious reasons and therefore i love the Springfield. i also love the Mosin Nagant. simple and indestructable. i would never vote for the MAS or the Carcano because of the stigma attached to French and Italian military/weapons, lol.
When it comes down to it i had to vote for the Lee-Enfield. Great accuracy, high clip capacity, and you have to love those neat little peep sights. very accurate and they are idiot proof as far as long range shooting goes. i once killed a white tailed deer at 600 yards with one of my .303's. and if you run outta ammo you can take someones head off with the gun, its that heavy lol.

What no M-1? or are we keeping it down to bolt action rifles. while it may seem obvious that I mauserman would vote for the mauser, I would vote for the M-1 if given the chance but if that is not allowed I'll go with the enfield. Its simple, rugged, has a nice safety that can be actuated by your thumb, and has a very rapid and smooth action.

At the risk of sounding like dufus, the name of the poll is "Whats you favorite bolt action rifle of WW2". hence no M1. there were enough Semi-autos in WW2 to warrant a seperate poll. that will probably be the next one.

Im sure most of you realize that most the rifles mentioned in fact used the Mauser action to begin with. The original mauser action was invented around 1898 and various improvements were made through out the years. Many countries were licensed to produce the many variants that are around.
I own a 1918 Spanish Mauser. i the gun isnt that old but the bolt action definately is. It is stamped with a spanish crest and 1918 on the top of the bolt.

GUNS I OWN
----------------------------
1)Marlin Model 101 .22 youth rifle. This rifle is quite rare and was only produced from 1952 to 1955. My dad gave it to me when I was 16 and he had owned since he was a teen. The strangest thing about this rifle is that it has a pull ring for a hammer. I have only seen this feature on a Swiss army rifle before many years ago in a book.
2) Chinese SKS w/bayonet..... circa 1992
3) Norinco Civilianized SKS-M with 5 and 30rnd clip,4X scope, and monte carlo stock.. My dad hates this rifle as it is very loud. It has a 16.5" barrel. The only thing I personally dislike about this rifle is its weight. Its a pleasure to shoot and it has a effective range of about 350 yards. The regular SKS has effective range of 400. The 7.62 X 39mm 125gr. bullet can only go so far. LOL .........circa 1992
4) Spanish Mauser chambered in 7.62 X51 NATO or .308
5) old 12 gauge single shot shot gun. Seen much better days and if I ever have some spare cash, Ill get some work done on it. It has sentemental value to me as it was my grandfathers and got it after he died
I also own a 9mm chinese pistol and a chec 7.65 X25 mm type 52 army pistol. Both of these pistols are at my dads house and have no idea of their current condition or where abouts
This info about the guns I own isn't really relevant to this poll, but I decided to share it with ya all the same

K98 Mauser, Lee Enfield too light a charge, The Mauser kicks a bit much and Springfield is a bit heavy.
M1 Garrand Rules, for the lighter wapons in light areas? I'll take a m1 carbine, light charge but 30 round mag, Just shoot 'em more than once

I'll go with Kent and his big head on this one because he's actually fired the guns, at least most. The two Andys base their votes on FPS'--LOL.

I may have never fired a Kar98 but i have in real life held on in my hands. I have fired the Mossin Nagant M-44 and I have come close to buying it on several occasions from a local Big 5 Sporting goods for $139.00
Nice try Marky Mark but no cigar.... I'll put up some money and go to a rifle range and we can have a little competition....
I have a Remingtion 7400 30-06
