Fantasy Hockey

OK, for you guests who don't know, KG members love sports and we have our own KG fantasy football, baseball and nascar league and many of us participate in other fantasy leagues. And as embarrasing as it may sound, we even have a member who admits to loving the Vikings. (Go Steelers!).

Fantasy hockey is about to start. I have 3 guys at work interested in playing in one of the free Yahoo leagues? Anyone here interested? KG and non-KG alike. We are all on even turf since there has been no hockey for 2 years. Automated draft should sort out some relatively fair teams, and it will give us yet another reason to tune in to the Outdoor Life Network -- Go Crosby, Go Pens! I can't name more than 1 or 2 players on any team beside the Penguins so it definitely won't be a league of hockey ringers.

Post here if interested. An 8 person league would be great. And for those who have never played, it's pretty similar to fantasy baseball -- different stat categories and you start different guys every day if you want.

2 Basketball Leagues

and now I am going to be in a Hockey League for the first time....

I've set it up for head to head and the draft will occur within 72 hours of the league being set to active. I'd like to have all interested players join by the end of next week as the regular season starts Oct. 5.

What stat categories will count for points?

Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, Penalty Minutes, Power Play Points and Game Winning Goals.


For goalies, it's wins, losses, save percentage, shutouts and goals against average.

There were other more esoteric categories like shorthanded assists but I kept it basic.

I have NEVER done Fantays Hockey before... I understand the game but just not the scoring for Hockey...

It's bad -- it's just like Errors in baseball. You want to have the lowest score in that category. Let me know if you need any of the other categories explained.

Meaning: No Delay in Trades, no delay in Free Agency ( no waiting period )

etc. etc. etc...

I can't believe I'm the only team out of 14 that have swapped players in the Hockey League today. I just picked up Heatley & Lindros for pete's sake! And they aren't even my starters!

I love my team, but frankly, I'm still wiping off the dust -- I can't even remember who was good (at least with respect to the undrafted guys) since hockey's been gone for so long!

I got Lemieux, Palfy, Sundin and even Palfy. I'm weak at goalie but who knows!

I am pretty content with my team but who knows with the amount of players being lost to injury in the preseason who knows what our benches will look like by mid way through the season.

I can't believe Frank got Heatley on waivers -- what was the computer smoking. I'm frankly mystified as to who some of my late round players are/were! I did pick up two young goalies on waivers, so goalie is now looking up. I'll at least have some fun with a few Pens on my team.

I just found out -- it's posted in the rules section:

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock will be broken using the following system:

Most team goals.

Most team assists.

Lowest team GAA.

Highest team SV%.

Most team wins.

Most team shutouts.

Most team powerplay points.

Most team game-winning goals.

Most team penalty minutes.

Most team plus/minus.

Random "coin flip."

Yea, the league is in lockdown. Stalin brought the hammer down and crushed the rebellion. Neither of the most egregious offenders will ever participate in a KG fantasy league again.
