Any mod by AndrewTF, whose specialty is uniform mods, MikeyD, who does mostly vehicles, and Juju, who does mostly buildings and terrain, are all almost guaranteed to be of very high quality. Saturnin has also done some beautiful tank mods.

The guys who have done alot of winter mods for vehicles and guns are Dey aka Daffy and DavidInglett. Some of there stuff is quite good.

Those new to mods might want to check out this thread at the Battlefront forum:

MikeyD's winter T-34:

This is one of his earlier mods. He often does his mods from scratch.

For infantry, the master is andrewtf. Here is a shot of his Finnish winter infantry:

with the exception of the gridded terrain, I do not use mods and feel that the original game's graphics are more than sufficient.

Jim. Jim..how can you play CMBB without winter mods?! Without them the game neither looks nor feels right.

While most other mods are a matter of preference and authenticity (e.g. using the default trucks--which for the Axis in CMBB are all German, even when playing, say the Rumanian's), winter unit mods are a must and do not overwrite any BMPs that came out of box when you installed the game.

maybe i'm missing something significant but I need more convincing. Remember, for years I happily played board wargames where a small piece of cardboard with an infantry/mech/armor/etc. symbol told me what the unit's capabilities were. For CM, I rarely zoom down close enough and spend enough time there to enjoy the additional detail that the mods bring.

So....convince me!

Double post - sorry about that

Since you twice asked to be convinced, I will take two shots at it. Although to be candid, you will not get near the full effect until you play a game with winter mods. That said, here's a screen shot from German side in early 1943:

While individual mods, especially the winter mods of units, can enrich your CMBB gaming immersion, certain mod packages are available that can extend the scope of the game as released. This post will address what I consider to be the key mod packages for CMBB and where those packages can be found today. I have not yet installed either of the packages discussed, so those who have please post you impressions and experiences using them.

The first and newest is the Fall Weiss. As is not surprise to most, this mod package put together by Patboy allows you to fight the opening campaign of the war, at least the Germans vs. Poles portion. Read more about it here:

http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=011825 (http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=011825)

Then go to CMMODS to download the three part package. All can be found under CMBB and Designer "pat".

Going back to the dress rehearsal for WW2, you can mod CMBB to re fight the Spanish Civil War. Your first stop should probably be the web site that discusses this mod package. It can be found here:

http://cmscw.50webs.com/modification/index.html

You can also go to CMMODS and check the work of mod designer Magomar to download the mod packages. You can also search "SCW" at CMMODS.

MikeyD has released a new Panther G (shot trap) that is available at CMMODS. It works for CMBB & CMAK. Here's a picture:

CMMODS requires registration. The linked worked for me when I posted it. I don't know if the link was bad, or if you have to be registered at CMMODS to see it.

Hey guys, do any of you know any mods or the file numbers for the tree bases? The ones in my CMBB Game are plain white in the editor and I don't know how to turn them off!
Here's a pic:

I don't think it's that simple. I believe that in CMBB the tree bases vary based on the kind of tree (e.g. scattered, tall pines and woods, as well as the season. For example, I have a mod file that says summer tree bases for tall pines and woods are BMP's #647 through #652 and that fall tree bases for the same thing are BMP's #722 through #727. Another modder lists BMP's #734 through #739 for fall (scattered?) tree bases.

Hope this helps, as well as my suggestion from month ago to back up your original BMP files for each game before you start modding!

Note: in CMAK, unlike CMBO & CMBB, there are no separate fall trees-so it is a bit easier
