One of my brothers is an attorney in northern Alabama. He and his firm have represented John Tiller, who is well know for computer war games published by Talonsoft and HPS. I sent my brother a link to the web site that concerns Tiller's June 17-19, 2005 gaming convention in Richmond, VA. After he looked at the link, my brother (whose name is also John) sent John Tiller a short congratulatory note. The next day John Tiller responded with a copy to me. The most interesting thing to me in the Tiller e-mail response was the information about Tiller's old Talonsoft games, which include the Campaign series.
Here's the reply:
John,
Good to hear from you. I'm going to attend Tiller Con next month in Richmond. Should be a lot of fun. There are several people who work for me that I've never met in person, including some Canadians who are making the trip.
Work is going very well. I'm doing a lot of work for the Air Force. They are using wargames in their education and training, particularly at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Since I am doing so much work for them, I got an interest in aviation and ended up getting my pilot's license. Now I fly around to various places I have Air Force business, including San Antonio last week.
Legally things have been very quiet, which suits me just fine <g> I incorporated last year with help from your firm. This is mainly for my accounting on government contracts. I talked with someone last week and they said Take-Two was looking to sell all of their old TalonSoft holdings, including my games, and they wanted to know if I wanted to work on the games for them and provide updates. Quite an ironic ending to that whole episode.
Let me know when your brother is in town and we can have lunch.
John
