Hi guys.
I came across your site a few weeks ago.
As a menmber of another 'CM Clan' (A Few Good Men) I wondered if you guys fancy a bit of a challenge?
(Your C in C kindly let me on to your message board to try and drum up some interest/ideas.)
Nothing too big, (i know you guys are busy,) but any takers?
A six player round robin was originally proposed but my guys think this may be too big/unworkable...
(Nice site by the way.)

Do you have anything in particular in mind? How many players from your group are interested in playing?
MrYormsha
02-22-2005, 06:18 PM
Quite a few.
But i was thinking, just to kick it off, maybe a '3v3'. QBs. Something like that.

I have 3 KG members besides myself-
KG_Cloghaun (me)
KG_Thorshammer
KG_Jag
KG_Koz
who are willing to take part in a Multiplayer game vs 4 of your players. I am turning this over to KG_Thorshammer who will go over details with you, MrYormsha. Let's keep everything on the table for discussion right now and first agree on some basics and then we'll take it from there.

Mate.
Most of my guys seem a little reluctant to engage in a 4v4 multiplayer. (in fact most of them seem reluctant to play in a 3v3 multiplayer...)
Wouldn't it be simpler to just play 4 battles 1v1?
4 seems a good number.
4 meeting engagements, or two attack two defend...?
(This multiplayer thing seems to have my boys in a tailspin.)
MrYormsha

I've stuck a post up asking our boys if they fancy playing 2 2player team games.
I'll let you know what the response is.
How does that sound?

greetings. was just at your site and noticed the campaign being designed. Good stuff. we are currently playing an inter clan multiplayer mini campaign I just designed..much more basic than most ive seen but i tried to keep it simple. I think a single multiplayer match, 4 on 4 would be possible with players who can get turns out fairly quickly. It is just a matter of issuing orders for ones own troops and then saving it and sending the file to the next fellow commander. It could be a lot of fun. If that is too overwhelming, a pair of 2 vs 2 matches could also be possible, with the pairs switching up when done their first games. The total points could decide the ultimate victors. large quick battles could be made of 5,000 points per side, or custom scenarios could be created with a neutral party adding the forces for each side when players have chosen them. Our members value fairplay and sportsmanship and would rather lose a great game than win a boring one. A clan duel would provide some "serious fun" that everyone would look forward to.

Hello there.
Ok. How about this:
2 games of 2v2. (i'm pretty sure I can get this sorted.)
You guys design a map, and we design a map. (Which can then be imported into a QB.)
It just gets away from those 'one team starts from one side of the board the other team starts from the opposite side of the board'. Which can be a bit dull. (What i had in mind was a Russian forward elements and an ad hoc retreating German kampfgruppe rush to gain control of a bridge. late '44.)
All teams play from both sides. And all games run simultainious.
And I agree wholeheartedly with the 'sportsmanship is everything' sentiments being expressed here.

was going to suggest mirrored play but went the other way lol.
I too hate little meeting engagements so your proposition sounds fun. To clarify; One pair will play on one of the maps while the other pair plays on the second map? How would you like the forces to be selected?....each player controlling a different branch? Any restrictions you guys prefer?
MrYormsha
02-23-2005, 07:58 PM
I've emailed a map to your CinC. I haven't played on it so its untested, but I could email it to you if you'd like a look.
We could play on two different maps or all play on the same map. I don't mind.
As for who controls what, i don't mind. different branches, or players take it in turns, or both players consult with each other. I'm easy.
KG_ThorsHammer
02-23-2005, 08:13 PM
sure, you could e mail me the map at
dbishop@mountaincable.net
Each team of two could use a different branch and spend up to 2500 points on troops/equipment (for a maximum of 5,000 points allowed in a QB). Ie: Germans select Army and LW and Russians select Gaurds and Army.
We could leave anything open to being purchased with a variable rarity setting but perhaps restrictions on airpower (none), and maybe only mortars allowed for artillary?
MrYormsha
02-24-2005, 05:55 PM
Well I've got one team of two and I'll advertise for another.
I'm sure it won't be a problem.
I'm fine with any perameters you want really.
it'll be the same for both sides.
I'll let you know when i have another eam confirmed.
KG_ThorsHammer
02-24-2005, 06:02 PM
roger that..ill do the same :D
MrYormsha
02-27-2005, 12:12 PM
Right.
We have two teams of two players ready and waiting.
Any thoughts on game perameters?
(and any thoughts on that map?)

Hello.
I've been out of action for awhile now due to a pc crash and real-life. We have our teams set to play. The map looks fine to me. KG_Thorshammer will be getting back to you regarding parameters. Once we get rolling, things will move along quite nicely.
Thank you for your patience.

everything looks good for a tuesday start.
our two teams are
KG_Koz
KG_Jag
KG_Cloghan
KG_ThorsHammer
The map looks interesting:)
Here are the parameters.
May, 1944
variable rarity
30+ turns
clear
Warm
mid day
5,000 points per side (2500 per player)
Only mortars observers for artillary
no air
Each player controls a different branch (ie: gaurds army vs heer ss)
games are mirrored
Total points for the 4 battles decides the clan that is victorious.
Please let me know your 2 teams and we can match them up and begin the process!
GL to everyone,,should be fun.
MrYormsha
02-27-2005, 04:24 PM
So just to clarify.
One player plays and purchases either 'heer', 'SS', 'Guards' or 'russian army'. (2500pts each)
The only artillery you can buy is 'mortar'.
And do you fancy playing the map? (and if so do you think there should be any penalty for destroying the bridge?)
MrYormsha
02-27-2005, 04:25 PM
Oh i forgot. If you give me the email addresses of your other players I'll send them the map.
KG_ThorsHammer
02-27-2005, 04:29 PM
The map is great, and i have already sent it to my fellow players.
As you suggested, there will be no blowing of the bridge allowed.
The heer, ss gaurds and army were just examples, any branch is allowed, the players must simply select two different types.
MrYormsha
02-27-2005, 04:35 PM
OK. Nice one. I've posted the maps out to our guys, and I'll stick a post up on our site with the perameters.
(We're nearly there...I'm quite excited...)
MrYormsha
02-27-2005, 06:43 PM
And another thing, can you make sure its version 2 of the map. Version 1 has the russian set up in the river. (allowing any sneaky russian players to purchase boats and row across the river, which is a bit gamey...)
Any suggestions what we do 'point-wise' if the bridge gets blown?
KG_ThorsHammer
02-27-2005, 06:58 PM
version 2 yes..
I am open to suggestions about the accidental destruction of the bridge, not sure how that should be handled..
KG_ThorsHammer
02-27-2005, 08:55 PM
ps: nothing under fortifications is permitted
MrYormsha
02-28-2005, 05:53 AM
Guys, the term 'variable rarity'? Do you mean standard rarity, or the other option?
MrYormsha
02-28-2005, 06:33 AM
And I'm also thinking of adding a small ford next to the bridge, just to overcome any 'who blew the bridge, was it accidental' was it deliberate etc etc.
KG_ThorsHammer
02-28-2005, 08:32 AM
yes, the variable option specifically. a small ford sounds good.
:D
MrYormsha
02-28-2005, 10:17 AM
I'll do the slight revision to the map, and send it out tonight
And just a quick check, have you all got version 1.03?
(There seemed to be some confusion over the 'variable rarity' setting from our guys, let me check it out...)
KG_ThorsHammer
02-28-2005, 02:13 PM
I only have version 2
In addition to the ford, perhaps a penalty for a side accidentally destroying the bridge of 300 points? The bridge is heavy and it would take a lot to knock it down anyway. An accident would probably be rare, but the penalty would make players be even more careful.
MrYormsha
02-28-2005, 06:37 PM
Hmmm. Could be a problem with version 2. I think all our guys run version 1.03 and I'm not sure if they're compatable...
Any chance you could update? Would you like me to send a file and see if it works?
I've emailed a revised map. Could you pass it on? (Many thanks in advance...)
KG_Cloghaun
02-28-2005, 07:32 PM
Everyone should be playing CM with the 1.03 update. We are talking about the game, not the map, correct?
KG_Cloghaun
02-28-2005, 11:21 PM
@MrYormsha,
Unfortunetely, one member of our teams and myself as well are requesting a delay until the end of the week due to real life commitments. Rest assured that once under way, our teams will be prompt throughout the battle in flipping turns.
I appreciate your patience and thank you.
All four of us are really looking forward to playing.
I've forwarded V3 of the map to the other 3 KG members.

i know its a little late but if you need a neutral third party map maker id be gald to make one for you guys if the need arises. :P
MrYormsha
03-01-2005, 06:54 AM
No problem with any delay. (The wifes on my case about how much time I'm spending 'playing war' so a breathing space is most welcome.)
And yes its version 3 of the map and version 1.03 of the game.
As for the offer of a map, I'm open to suggestions on that one, so thanks for the offer Mr. Panzerschreck sir...
KG_ThorsHammer
03-01-2005, 03:08 PM
think the map (version 3) will be fine. As before, there will be no destruction of the bridge (teams are simply Honor bound on the issue).
The ford will assure an accidental collapse is not catastrophic for one side or both. We shall prepare and be ready for a start on next Monday.
KG_ThorsHammer
03-01-2005, 06:56 PM
ps: some of my team mates indicated that 30 minutes might not be enough time, so I will increase it to 40 if that is ok with FGM.
Also, been thinking about restricting experience levels to only up to veteren troops if that sounds good also.
KG_ThorsHammer
03-01-2005, 10:58 PM
unlimited force quality seems to be the consensus, so nix that last statement.
here are the final parameters.
may 1944
unlimited force quality/composition
2 different branches per side
2500 points per player
mid day
clear
breeze
40 turns +
dry ground
no air
mortars only
no fortifications
no destruction of bridge
to make things simple, standard rarity
if this sounds good to our FGM opponents, we will be all set.
MrYormsha
03-02-2005, 05:55 AM
standard rarity seems a good idea. I was having trouble working out how both players would make their purchases otherwise...
And yeah, lets go for unlimited force composition.
We'll be fine with everything else.
How shall we start? Everyone sets up their 'playing as the soviet side'? Or do you guys want to set up both games and send them on?
And I guess I'll need your email addresses.
MrYormsha
03-02-2005, 06:06 AM
Oh and one more thing,
We can buy from the artillery selection, but only mortars.
Is that correct?
KG_ThorsHammer
03-02-2005, 02:18 PM
correct:)
it is also all regions to allow a variety of branches, and extreme FOW
I guess we could get the russians set up done first for each pair, and then complete as the germans. Just let us know your two pairs and what matchups you would like. Cant wait, this looks like fun:)
KG_ThorsHammer
03-04-2005, 11:47 PM
well, one pair is done their russian selections. we just need to know the opponents
MrYormsha
03-05-2005, 03:52 PM
OK. I'll email you the email addresses.
